About us

Advice written for Europe, not adapted to it

Most home and garden reviews online are written for North America, then translated. We do the opposite: we test in Europe and write about what European homeowners can actually buy.

European Home & Garden was started by a small team of gardeners, pool owners and renovators who were tired of advice that didn't translate. A robot mower recommended in US guides may be impossible to service here. A heat pump sizing rule from a different climate is useless. Retailers and warranty terms differ country by country.

So we built the site we wanted to read:

  • Every recommendation is Europe-first. We only feature products you can realistically buy, ship and service somewhere in the EU/EEA or the UK.
  • We buy or borrow the products and install them ourselves. No review is based on a spec sheet, a press release or a video.
  • Prices and retailers follow your country. Change your country and the buying links, prices and currencies change with it.
  • Our verdicts cannot be bought. Retailers and brands do not see reviews before publication, and affiliate relationships never decide a rating. Read our editorial policy and how we test.

The team

Four editors cover the site's categories. Every article names its author, and every review names who installed and tested the product.

  • Editor, Garden Technology

    Anna Lindqvist

Anna has spent nine years writing about garden machinery and outdoor technology. She runs a long-term robot mower test on three lawns in southern Sweden, including a sloping 1,400 m² plot that defeats most machines.

  • Senior writer, Pool & Outdoor Living

    Thomas Moreau

Thomas maintained pools professionally in Provence before turning to journalism. He tests robotic cleaners, pumps and heating on both in-ground and above-ground pools, and cooks far too much pizza in the name of research.

  • Editor, Home Energy

    Katrin Bauer

Katrin is an electrical engineer who covers balcony solar, home batteries and backup power. She measures real output and cycle behaviour rather than repeating manufacturer figures, and follows German and Austrian grid rules closely.

  • Writer, Smart Home & DIY

    Marek Nowak

Marek renovated a 1930s apartment and a village house, and now tests smart home hardware and power tools in both. He is particularly interested in what works in thick-walled older buildings.
